Navitas response to Novel Coronavirus
10th Feb, 2020 Feature story:
As an organisation that welcomes Chinese students to our colleges and campuses across the world, and enjoys a significant recruitment capability in mainland China, we are paying particularly close attention to this virus so that we can protect the health of our staff and students, and offer appropriate support to anyone impacted by the current travel restrictions.
Our response to the virus will continue to be guided by government and health authorities in each of the regions in which we operate. We are also working closely with each of our university partners to ensure that our response at a college level is closely aligned to yours.
The steps taken by the Australian government (01 February 2020) to limit the spread of coronavirus within Australia, including preventing foreign nationals from entering Australia from mainland China, will impact both new and returning students from China.
Our Chinese students are an important part of our diverse and inclusive community, whether they are here in Australia or waiting to travel here, and we will do everything we can to accommodate their needs and address their concerns. Along with our partner universities we are considering various options to ensure that students stay closely connected with our colleges at this time and minimise disruption to their studies. Our colleges are personally contacting every impacted student to discuss options and develop tailored study plans. We have created a dedicated page on our agent portal to keep agents informed of the specific provisions being made for impacted students by each of our colleges.
We are also considering the impact that this virus is having on our own staff in China as well as our agent community and taking steps to ensure that they feel supported during this period of uncertainty.
At a Group level we have extended our travel ban to include all travel to and through mainland China. These restrictions will remain in place until further notice.
