Navitas Education Trust reopens for applications in 2019
21st Dec, 2018 Feature story:
Navitas will once again be offering funding to education-based charities in January 2019.
Drawing inspiration from the driving purpose of our organisation, transforming lives through education, the Navitas Education Trust (NET) provides support to charitable organisations with an education focus to bring about change where it is most needed.
Since 2013, we have contributed annual funds to the NET; assisting numerous world-wide education-based projects. These projects, in turn, have helped many people gain better access to education, improved the quality of offerings, and contributed to teacher training and infrastructure. Over the years, the NET has supported projects that have had diverse reach in education, such as the delivery of integrated health, education and life skills programs, school governance support and scholarships for high-performing but disadvantaged young people.
One of the NET’s current partners is Know One Teach One (KOTO), an organisation helping to transform the lives of disadvantaged youth in Vietnam via its holistic hospitality training program. Another of the NET’s partners is Classroom of Hope, with funding contributing to a new STEM4Women program that is providing ten young women and girls with tertiary scholarships to study in STEM fields in Cambodia and Thailand. The NET has also contributed to another of Classroom of Hope’s vital projects, the building of Child-friendly schools in rural Cambodia.
“We are proud to have worked in close partnership with Navitas over the last four years to create twelve Child-Friendly Schools in rural Battambang, Cambodia. Thanks to the generous support from the NET, many thousands of children are gaining access to quality education in a safe and secure learning environment”, said Duncan Ward, Founder and CEO Classroom of Hope.
“With an increase in enrolments and decrease in drop-out rates we can now see that the program is delivering positive outcomes for these communities.”
Applications for FY2020 will open on January 3, 2019. For more information and to obtain the NET guidelines, please visit Navitas.com/organisation/responsibility and click on the ‘Community’ tab.
