TMUIC hosts Director’s Luncheon to celebrate collaboration and growth
Earlier this month, Toronto Metropolitan University International College (TMUIC) hosted its Director’s Luncheon, a warm and engaging gathering that brought together over 20 teaching staff, course coordinators, and faculty representatives from TMUIC’s university partner.
It was a great opportunity to reconnect, exchange ideas, and celebrate the efforts that keep TMUIC’s programs thriving. CDP Kerry Valentine opened the session with a recap of the recent five-year academic review, highlighting key findings and the resulting action plans. The group also reviewed the current student cohort, examining trends by course and country of origin, and engaged in thoughtful discussion about future opportunities to expand and enhance their programs.
The luncheon also served as an opportunity to recognise the contributions of departing Associate Director, Shawna Shulman. Shawna has been an integral part of TMUIC’s journey, known for her passion, insight, and unwavering dedication to student success. The team wished her all the best as she embarks on her next chapter at Wilfrid Laurier International College and expressed sincere gratitude for her lasting impact on the college community.
The event also introduced TMUIC’s new staffing structure, designed to reflect the college’s continued growth and evolving needs. These changes will strengthen support for both students and teaching teams while positioning the college for its next phase of development.
Coinciding with World Teachers Day, the luncheon included a heartfelt thank-you to TMUIC’s exceptional teaching community. Each faculty member received a mug filled with treats as a token of appreciation, a small gesture recognising the big difference they make every day.
The afternoon was filled with conversation, ideas, and laughter. A wonderful celebration of collaboration, growth, and student success!
