Navitas puts New Zealand firmly on the map with successful familiarisation trip

A recent familiarisation trip organized by University of Waikato College (UWC) and UC International College (UCIC) at the University of Canterbury has significantly contributed to showcasing New Zealand’s post-pandemic recovery and educational offerings. The week-long visit, attended by 16 key agents and 5 regional Navitas staff from India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, and China, provided a comprehensive overview of the exceptional opportunities available at New Zealand Navitas Colleges.

The journey began at the University of Waikato in Hamilton, where guests were warmly welcomed with a traditional Māori ceremony at the University’s marae. This cultural immersion set the tone for an enriching experience that highlighted the welcoming environment and rich cultural diversity that students can expect in New Zealand. The group then explored the university’s main campus in Hamilton and its second campus in Tauranga, with a refreshing excursion to the picturesque Mt Maunganui.

Continuing their journey to the South Island, the group arrived in Christchurch, where they were immersed in the vibrant atmosphere of New Zealand’s largest city. Highlights of their time in Ōtautahi Christchurch included participating in the University of Canterbury’s (UC) annual Graduation Parade, touring UC’s campus to witness the exceptional learning and living facilities at UC International College, visiting UCIC’s sister College, Christchurch College of English, and experiencing the diverse attractions and adventures the city has to offer.

Dr Simon Peel, College Director and Principal of UWC said, “A key selling point for us is the overall quality of the student experience and so it is vital that our in-market colleagues understand the unique benefits of studying at one of our two New Zealand campuses, either in the North Island or South island.”

Julia Innocente-Jones, College Director and Principal of UCIC and CCEL, also expressed her enthusiasm for the trip, stating, “This was a bucket list chance for a wonderful group of individuals, with varying degrees of knowledge about New Zealand, to come together and see first-hand the delights of our beautiful country and two amazing cities.” She emphasised the collaborative effort of the Navitas colleges and their university partners in creating an unforgettable experience that firmly establishes New Zealand as a credible option for international students.

“We feel privileged to have welcomed this exceptional group of education professionals,” Julia continued. “Though we were saddened by their departure, we eagerly anticipate their return home, where they can unpack their suitcases filled with souvenirs, browse through their photo-filled phones, and share their memorable experiences with colleagues, students and their parents.”

A special thanks to the wider UWC and UCIC teams as well to our offshore team, Nancy Wang, Surendra Rawat, Fendy Heryanto, Pheh Chiang (PC) Ho and Kenneth Do NGoc for contributing to a successful event for our agents! The trip not only showcased the beauty of New Zealand but also highlighted the exceptional educational opportunities available, reinforcing New Zealand’s position as a premier destination for international students.
