Navitas celebrates International Women’s Day 2024!

Marked as the Global Day of Observance by the United Nations (UN) since 1977, International Women’s Day (IWD) is a day to reflect on progress, call out for further change, and celebrate the courage and determination of those who have changed the face of gender equality worldwide.

This year’s IWD theme set by the UN is Invest in women: Accelerate progress, which asks us to examine pathways to greater economic inclusion for women and girls around the world.

There are many ways Navitas is investing in women to accelerate their progress – and we shared some examples of these every day in the week leading up to IWD.

We encouraged our people to use their two days of annual volunteer leave to help women, particularly vulnerable women in their community. We promoted the work of our Navitas Education Trust (NET) partner CAMFED who provide access to quality education for girls in rural communities in Africa. The NET supports CAMFED’s life-changing Learner Guide program that allowed CAMFED to meet its goal to equip 51 Learner Guides in Zambia with the resources they need to effectively support access to quality education in rural communities. We announced the launch of WiNNing at Navitas, the new annual conference hosted by the Women in Navitas Network (WiNN). The conference will explore issues that impact women and reflect on the lived experiences and stories of women, while enriching and developing their existing member network and community to provide networking opportunities for all. And finally, we celebrated the successful partnerships that have been formed in the company-wide professional development opportunity, the Navitas Mentoring Program, one year on from being announced last International Women’s Day.

At Navitas we take pride in celebrating women on International Women’s Day as we reflect on the strength, resilience and achievements of women in all societies, while we also take the opportunity to recognise the extraordinary women in Navitas, and the contribution they make to achieving our purpose of transforming lives through education!
