Navitas and University of Twente evolve partnership to support Netherlands’ technical talent needs

Navitas and the University of Twente are building on their long-standing partnership with a new, highly targeted pathway programme designed to help talented international students prepare for selected technical bachelor’s degrees.

Twente International College – Innovation & Technology will be based on the University of Twente campus and will prepare students whose prior education does not yet provide direct admission to participating degree programmes. The first cohort will be welcomed in September 2027.

The partnership supports the Dutch ‘Project Beethoven’, a collaboration between government, industry and educational institutions to strengthen the tech sector, specifically ChipTech talent, in the Netherlands. It aims to retain highly skilled technical talent in the country, with a specific focus on selected bachelor’s programmes that address regional and national skills shortages.

The curriculum will be closely aligned with the University’s academic requirements, giving students the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to progress successfully into their chosen degree.

Two foundation pathways will be offered:

1. Foundation in Innovation & Technology (General)
Progression to:

  • BSc Applied Mathematics
  • BSc Applied Physics
  • BSc Electrical Engineering
  • BSc Industrial Design Engineering
  • BSc Industrial Engineering & Management
  • BSc Mechanical Engineering
  • BSc Technical Computer Science

2. Foundation in Innovation & Technology (Chemistry)
Progression to:

  • BSc Advanced Technology
  • BSc Chemical Science & Engineering

Students joining the new college will also benefit from having more time to connect with the surrounding region, learn the Dutch language, develop professional and community networks, and gain experience with local employers.

Scott Jones, CEO of Navitas, said:

“The strongest partnerships evolve as the needs of students, universities and governments change. Our work with the University of Twente demonstrates what can be achieved when partners combine their expertise around a clear shared outcome.

“We are proud to continue working with the University of Twente on an approach that supports individual student potential while contributing to the Netherlands’ need for future technical talent.”

The initiative represents the next phase of a partnership between Navitas and the University of Twente that began in 2018. Twente Pathway College offered a broader pathway to bachelor’s education whilst the new college is a distinct, targeted initiative aligned with the objectives and duration of Project Beethoven.

The September 2026 cohort at Twente Pathway College has not been impacted by the launch of the new College, with teaching to continue until Summer 2027.

Applications for Twente International College will open on 5 November 2026, with the first students welcomed in September 2027.
