Introducing Navitas’ first AI application assessment system

Navitas is thrilled to share its first AI for Admission capability to enhance future students’ application experience and fast-track the admission process. The AI for Admissions Project will use AI to automate the application process from submission to offer recommendation.

How will it work?

The technology uses existing platforms and open-source AI to assess applications in the same way that a human does, without bias and at great speed. The automated process checks applications against all necessary rules, such as academic and English language requirements, before making a recommendation to our admissions team. Applicants can expect the following benefits from the enhanced AI application system:

  • fair and consistent application evaluation process
  • fast turnaround time for the application outcome
  • streamlined and effective admission process

Whilst the AI capability enhances students’ application experience, the admissions teams remain at the heart of every decision. By automating initial assessments, the admissions teams will have more time to focus on providing higher-value support to prospective students, helping them arrive on campus better prepared.

When and what to expect?

From August, the new technology will be initially implemented in two pilot colleges – Curtin College and International College Portsmouth (ICP). Applicants can expect to see a disclaimer on the application form, stating AI is being used, when submitting their application via StudyLink. In time, they will also receive an AI generated response informing them of the application status and progression during the process.

Following the successful implementation in the pilot colleges, the AI capability will be expanded to all Navitas colleges. Further information on the continued rollout will be shared later.
