Deakin College mentors meet with the Australian Ambassador to Cambodia
Earlier this month, two outstanding student mentors from Deakin College had the unique opportunity to meet with Mr Derek Yip, the Australian Ambassador to Cambodia. The meeting was part of an ongoing effort to strengthen connections between Australian education institutions and the international communities they serve.

During the visit, the students shared their personal experiences of studying in Australia, offering insights into life as international students and what it means to be part of the Deakin College community. They discussed the challenges they’ve faced, the support systems available to them, and the opportunities they’ve embraced academically and socially during their time at Deakin College.
This meaningful exchange provided a platform for students to voice their perspectives directly to a representative of the Australian government, highlighting the importance of student welfare, cultural exchange, and global engagement in education.
The Ambassador expressed his appreciation for the students’ honesty and enthusiasm, noting the vital role international students play in shaping the multicultural fabric of Australia’s academic and social landscape.
Meetings like these not only empower students but also reinforce Deakin College’s commitment to creating an inclusive, supportive, and globally connected learning environment.
