A year of partnership: stories from our five NET partners in FY25
At the end of each financial year, we receive reflections and stories from the past twelve months of partnership with each Navitas Education Trust partner.
About the NET
The Navitas Education Trust funds education projects to help people gain better access to education, creating positive far-reaching impact for many communities around the world. For the last 11 years, we have partnered with forward-thinking and sustainability-oriented organisations bringing education to disadvantaged communities around the world.
In FY25, the Navitas Education Trust (NET) is supported five incredible NET partners: Classroom of Hope (Indonesia), KOTO (Vietnam), indigo foundation (India), CAMFED (Zambia), and Vietnam Foundation (Vietnam).
KOTO (Know One, Teach One) – Vietnam
KOTO is a social enterprise that empowers at-risk and disadvantaged youth in Vietnam through its holistic hospitality training program. NET funding has supported the KOTO Hospitality Traineeship Program for disadvantaged young people in Hanoi.
In the last year, NET funding supported Class 44, a class of 15 hospitality trainees. Funding supports not only their education costs, but also their living expenses. The trainees were also treated to a six-day Dream Trip – many of the students had never had the opportunity to take a recreational trip before, and the Dream Trip provides an important experience of class bonding, visiting new places, and learning more about the food and hospitality industry in Vietnam.
We are also delighted to welcome KOTO’s founder, Jimmy Pham AM, to the 2025 Business Partner Conference as a keynote speaker next month.
Classroom of Hope – Indonesia
Classroom of Hope builds schools in rural parts of developing countries. NET funding currently supports the eco-block school building project in Lombok Indonesia. So far, our funding has helped to build over a dozen schools.
FY25 NET funding will support the rebuild of classrooms at Paokmotong 5 Primary School in East Lombok, a school in a community that was heavily affected by the 2018 earthquakes. The school teaches 85 students and employs nine teachers, and all six of its classrooms were impacted by the earthquakes six years ago. Classroom of Hope, alongside community partners, plan to build 6 new classrooms and 2 toilet blocks from earthquake resistant blocks made from recycled plastics at a factory in Lombok. Stay tuned for an update on this project which is due to be completed in the next two months.
indigo foundation – India
indigo foundation is an innovative and independent community development organisation that works with local community partners around the world to empower women and girls, improve education and health outcomes, and defend human rights. NET funding has supported the Advancement and Empowerment Programs in India, including after-school tuition, tailoring and typing, and IT training and library fund programs. indigo foundation partners with two local organisations, Uplift Women and PEAB, to help deliver their educational services.
One of the most important services indigo foundation and their partners provide are after-school tuition class for students, to provide extra support and a safe place to study. Tutors at the centre are trained volunteers, many of whom are older high school students who once attended the after-school classes themselves. Classes take place at one of seven Village Education Centres (VECs), critical community hubs that provide education both to students and to their caregivers. Apart from secondary education support, the VECs also offer computer training programs and tailoring classes for adults.
CAMFED – Zambia
CAMFED (Campaign for Female Education) breaks down barriers for girls in rural communities. NET funding is extending the reach of 50 Learner Guides (young women who have completed school who support the next generation of girls) in rural Zambia.
In FY25, NET funding supported:
- 6,211 rural children with life skills programming
- 1,922 marginalised girls with social support
- 107 young women as Learner Guides.
In March of this year, we were delighted to invite teams to a webinar with CAMFED to celebrate International Women’s Day. Over 80 team members attended and had the chance to hear from two CAMFED alumni who now work as Learner Guides supporting other young women while also following their own entrepreneurial dreams and progressing their careers.
Vietnam Foundation – Vietnam
Vietnam Foundation (VNF) empowers poor and disadvantaged people and communities in remote areas in rural Vietnam to break themselves out of the cycle of poverty. Over the past two years, NET funding has supported the Build a Future: Employability & Further Study Preparation Program for Disadvantaged students in Vietnam.
With the support of NET funding, Vietnam Foundation has been able to complete the development of the VNF Learning portal, a home to their digital education materials and classes. NET funding supported the educational design for these modules, now rolled out to senior high school and tertiary students to supplement their formal studies and support with employability skills, English language proficiency, and building international perspectives.
Funding also supported two summer camps – one Employability and study skills outdoor recreation camp attended by 15 students, and one Employability, study, and digital skills camp attended by 35 students.
Impact at Navitas
