Sekolah Alam Insan Mulia Surabaya visits Curtin Singapore for a campus tour
After months of planning with Mr Rangga from Sekolah Alam Insan Mulia (SAIM) and Kar Wai from Curtin Singapore, Hana welcomed a group from the partner school, Sekolah Alam Insan Mulia Surabaya, on 5 May 2026. The visit included 46 students and four teachers: Mr Awalin, Mrs Mita, Mr Mufti, and Mrs Reni.
Kar Wai delivered an insightful session to students, highlighting the benefits of studying at Curtin Singapore, including the opportunity to complete a fast-track two-year degree and access scholarships of up to 50% for technology-related programs.
A highlight of the visit was Dr Jaideep Chandran’s workshop on Indonesia’s rapidly growing digital economy. One key insight was that 90% of Southeast Asian employers are expected to adopt AI by 2030. Indonesia is also leading the region, with a remarkable 127% increase in revenue from AI-featured apps, the highest in ASEAN.
Students were then divided into groups to brainstorm ideas around Industry 6.0 and identify gaps in Indonesia’s current manufacturing capabilities. The activity focused not only on solution-building but also on the importance of process: listening, collaborating, and learning from one another. Dr Jaideep emphasised the importance of stepping back as a leader and being open to others’ perspectives, reminding everyone that leaders may not always have the right answer. This message resonated strongly with participants.
When asked what stood out most from the session, students shared reflections such as:
“It was a valuable experience for me. Curtin Singapore provided fresh insights into Industry 6.0 and ran a workshop that helped students explore and develop their own ideas.”
“The program was very engaging, and I loved the enthusiasm of the presenter.”
The team expressed appreciation to SAIM for featuring them on their Instagram account and extended a sincere thank you to everyone involved in making the meaningful session possible. They look forward to further collaborations that continue to inspire students to think more broadly and ambitiously about their future.
