ARU College student success: Shivali Thaker, Dean’s Award Winner

Since joining Anglia Ruskin University (ARU), Shivali Thaker has already been recognised for her dedication and academic success, receiving a prestigious Dean’s Award from the Faculty of Business and Law.

Originally from Namibia, Shivali is now in her second year studying BSc (Hons) Business with Marketing at ARU’s Cambridge campus. She began her journey with a business pathway at ARU College, which helped prepare her for undergraduate study.

Shivali chose ARU because of its welcoming environment for international students and the well-rounded structure of the course. She says she has learnt a great deal during her time at ARU so far, and that it has broadened her career prospects.

Shivali spoke about her experience of studying in the UK as an international student:

“I am originally from Namibia, and moving to the UK was definitely a big difference from back home. However, the university has great events and people who made the process much easier, such as the weekly Icafé events organised by Friends International in Coslett Café.”

One of the highlights of her studies so far was working on a live marketing brief with Enterprise Car Club during her first year. Looking ahead, Shivali hopes to continue her studies with a master’s degree in Luxury Fashion Brand Management.
