Curtin College celebrates Diwali – the Festival of Lights

Curtin College recently came alive with colour, music, and joy as its staff and students gathered to celebrate Diwali 2025, the Festival of Lights.

The event showcased the vibrant and diverse community at Curtin College, with festive decorations, lights, and flowers transforming the campus into a warm, welcoming space. Students enjoyed delicious snacks, traditional music, and dance performances. Some students and staff dressed in stunning cultural attire to mark the occasion that day. The highlight of the celebration was the runway show, where participants confidently struck their best poses, filling the room with laughter, applause, and festive energy.

Diwali is a sacred festival for the Hindu community, symbolising light over darkness and the start of new beginnings. In this spirit, Curtin College launched its Sewa Diwali (Service to Humanity) campaign, encouraging everyone to give back to the community.

This year, Curtin College are supporting Aboriginal communities in the Perth Midland area through the St John of God Midland Hospital Aboriginal Liaison Team, who will create and deliver hampers to Aboriginal people in need and those experiencing homelessness.

It was heartwarming to see students from different backgrounds and countries come together, not only to celebrate culture and tradition but also to contribute to a meaningful cause. The event reflected the true spirit of Curtin College: a place where diversity, inclusion, and community connection thrive.
