University of Canterbury International College celebrates course registration

The University of Canterbury International College (UCIC) team came together last month for a special whakanui (celebration) to mark an important milestone – securing University of Canterbury (UC) registration for UCIC’s academic programs. This achievement means UCIC students are recognised as UC students from the very first day of their studies.

Under the registration, UCIC’s academic programmes now provide students with the best of both worlds – belonging to UCIC while being fully integrated into the wider UC community. The college’s Certificate in Foundation Studies has also been refreshed to include core courses in global citizenship and sustainability, reflecting the university’s commitment to preparing students for a global future. In addition, UCIC is also very excited to offer pathways into UC master’s degrees starting in October.

This celebration captured the spirit of manaakitanga – hospitality, kindness, respect, and support – across both the university and college whānau (extended family). UCIC’s first CDP, Peter Cottrell, and Navitas University Partnership Australasia’s Executive General Manager, Sally Waite, also joined the party.
