Boosting English Skills and Friendships: Curtin Singapore Launches Café Connect
Curtin Singapore has introduced a new initiative, Café Connect, to help students practise English in a fun, low-pressure environment.
Held every other Friday at the Student UniHub+ on Curtin Singapore campus, Café Connect brings together students from diverse backgrounds for light-hearted conversations, cultural exchange, and connection over complementary snacks and refreshments. It’s a welcoming space that helps students build confidence in spoken English while forging new friendships.

Café Connect welcomes all students, whether English is their first or second language. Each session lasts for an hour, featuring fun and informal topics that encourage real conversation and mutual learning. The first session was launched on 25 July 2025. With a great turnout and positive energy, it set the tone for many more engaging sessions to come.

Held on 8 August 2025, the second Café Connect session celebrated Singapore’s 60th National Day, where students came dressed in creative Singapore-themed outfits for a friendly Best Dressed contest. They experienced a blend of cultural pride, full of fun and connection. Winners received tickets to the newly opened Singapore Oceanarium — one of the world’s largest marine attractions, featuring 22 immersive zones filled with marine exhibits and interactive themes.

Why Café Connect matters
Regular English practice not only supports classroom learning but also helps students thrive in group projects, internships, and future workplaces. Café Connect is part of Curtin Singapore’s ongoing commitment to student engagement and success beyond the classroom.
