Curtin College welcomes new students at Trimester 2 Orientation
Earlier this month, Curtin College welcomed a new cohort of domestic and international students for Trimester 2 Orientation. The event marked a significant milestone, not only the beginning of academic studies, but also the start of a new chapter in Australia for many.
Orientation plays a vital role in helping students transition into college life, setting the tone for a successful and supported experience ahead. The day was designed to set students up for success, with a well-rounded program of activities focused on building confidence, community, and connection. New students were warmly greeted and guided through a tailored experience that helped them feel supported, informed, and excited about their journey.

A series of insightful welcome talks from key leaders in the Curtin community offered practical advice and reassurance. College Director and Principal Quentin Derrick opened the day with a warm welcome, followed by presentations from Curtin University Director of Student Services Megan Jenkinson, Curtin College Academic Director Dr Julie Robertson, Student Learning Advisor Mojtaba Sanati, and College Counsellor Rubie Kauta. Their talks covered essential topics such as academic expectations, wellbeing strategies, and the range of services available to support students during their time at Curtin College.
Students also completed their digital onboarding, which ensures they’re fully prepared for Week 1 and confident in navigating their learning platforms and class schedules. Later, they met with their program teams to better understand their course structure and asked questions about their studies. A guided campus tour concluded the day, helping students become familiar with their new surroundings and feel more at home.
Events like orientation day reflect Curtin College’s commitment to holistic student support, combining academic excellence with community connection and personal wellbeing. By the end of the day, students shared that they felt more settled, informed, and genuinely welcomed into the Curtin College community.
As a leading pathway provider to Curtin University, Curtin College prioritises a positive student experience from day one. With the foundations now set, the college looks forward to seeing this new cohort thrive in their studies and beyond.
