A day trip to Lethbridge: UICC students discover university life at the main campus
ULethbridge International College Calgary (UICC) recently took a group of 14 students on a day trip to the University of Lethbridge’s main campus, offering a chance to experience another side of the ULethbridge journey. The visit showcased the flexibility of studying across both an urban campus in Calgary and a more traditional campus in Lethbridge, should students choose to explore both.
A highlight of the day was touring Science Commons, the university’s newest academic building, featuring modern, collaborative learning spaces. The group also visited the Co-op Centre for Sport & Wellness, where they saw the Ascent Climbing Centre, a 2,000-square-foot modular climbing wall and large bouldering cave.
The day wrapped up with a group photo at the Aperture sculpture, a 20-foot landmark unveiled in 1972 and designed by Arthur Erickson’s firm, the same architect behind Simon Fraser University’s campus. Located at the geographic centre of the campus, it helped orient students and remains a meaningful symbol of the university’s history.
