Celebrating Eid through food, culture and community at Curtin College

Curtin College recently celebrated Eid with a warm staff gathering, led by colleagues who wanted to share the joy and meaning behind Eid with the wider College community.

For those who observe it, Eid is a special time of gratitude, generosity, family and connection. It is a celebration that brings people together and offers a chance to share traditions that hold deep personal and cultural meaning.

Staff generously brought homemade dishes, desserts and traditional treats, many of which were prepared especially for Eid or were family recipes passed down through generations. The table featured a variety of sweet treats, including Walnut Pie, Trifle, Petit Fours and Baklava, as well as savoury favourites such as Samosa Pinwheels, Masala Fish, Lahm bi Ajeen, Mini Chicken Pizzas, Stuffed Vine Leaves, fresh breads served with a spicy yoghurt dip, and many other family favourites.

Diversity is one of Curtin College’s greatest strengths. Celebrations like Eid help foster an inclusive environment where people feel valued, respected and connected. They also remind everyone that food has a unique way of bringing people together, creating meaningful moments of cultural exchange and community spirit.

Curtin College appreciates all the staff who contributed their time, effort and culinary talents to make the event such a success. Their generosity helped create a memorable celebration enjoyed by colleagues from across the College.

The Eid gathering was a wonderful reflection of the inclusive and welcoming culture. Curtin College looks forward to continuing to celebrate the many cultures that enrich its community.
